Pear tree – Taylor apple-pear
Zone 4 self-fertile: A small Asian-type pear tinted with red, harvested around late September – mid-October. It looks rather like an apple, but when it comes to taste and texture, it has all the characteristics of an asian pear. The fruit is crunchy and sweet, the skin has some bitterness. Responds well to drying and has a good texture for using in salads, and it also has good conservation. The tree is disease-resistant.
