Pear tree – Louise-Bonne d’Avranches
Zone 5 self-sterile: Heritage cultivar dating back to 1780. A medium-sized elongated pear. Yellow with a red blush where it is exposed to sunlight. The lenticelles become dark brown on the side exposed to the sun (a sign of ripeness). A juicy and sweet pear with an agreeable texture, at its best after being left indoors to mature for one week. It is harvested at the end of August or early September. Susceptible to scab.
