Zone 2 self-sterile: Haskaps are extremely hardy shrubs that produce some of the earliest fruit of the season. The small berries are dark purple or blue and are extremely rich in vitamin C among other vitamins and minerals. The fruit has a distinctive flavour: acidic and sweet, somewhat resembling a blueberry. They can be eaten fresh, frozen, or processed. The shrub is easy to grow, being quite adaptable in terms of soil and sun requirements. Note that you must have two shrubs in order for pollination to take place.
