Apple tree – Honeygold seedling

Zone 3 self-fertile :Beautiful primarily ornamental shrub that also gives extremely aromatic fruit that can be processed to make delicious preserves and jellies.

Japanese quince is a low-spreading deciduous shrub originating from eastern Asia. It is valued primarily for its ornamental characteristics. It grows at a medium rate and can typically live around 40 years. The shrub exhibits a low and densely tangled-looking form with glossy dark green leaves and small thorns. Reasonable size expectations are about 3ft tall and a 4 ft spread. It produces stunning red flowers in late spring and vibrant yellow fruit that exude a captivating fragrance. Grows best in moist, well-drained soil and full sun but is not picky, persisting in most all soil and light conditions while showing a tolerance to air pollution.

Japanese quince fruit are not suitable for raw eating but make excellent preserves and jellies and can add a pleasant tangy, citrusy touch to dishes when grated on top. These spiky plants also make a great barrier and their spreading root system has potential in erosion control.

Zone 3: An extremely cold-hardy pear variety that can survive temperatures of -50 °F. Originated as a seedling of Patten. The pear is large and juicy, with a buttery texture and sweet flavour. It stores well if harvested a week before maturity and kept cold. Harvest beginning of October.

Zone 3 self-fertile: White currant produces clusters of white translucent berries, excellent for fresh eating or even for making juice. It is one of the only fruit trees that grows well in semi-shade. Harvest takes place at the end of July.

We have some MM111 apple tree rootstocks for sale. We acquired them for the purpose of conducting certain tests, and we ended up with extra ones.

They have a diameter ranging from 1/4" to 5/16".

The MM111 rootstock is semi-standard, reaching 80% of the size of a standard apple tree.

Zone 2: Very cold-hardy pear tree that produces large pears with soft and buttery flesh. Good for eating fresh or preserving.

We have some MM106 apple tree rootstocks for sale. We obtained them for the purpose of conducting certain tests, and we have extra ones available.

They have a diameter ranging from 1/4" to 3/8".

The MM106 rootstock is semi-dwarf, reaching 60% of the size of a standard apple tree.

Zone 4b: Discovered in St. Julienne, produces very good apples and is worth the effort of propagating more widely!

Zone 2a self-fertile: The fruit size is large and good for processing. (8-10 mm)  It fruits consistently and prolifically. The fruit is less acidic than most wild chokecherries. The bush matures to a height of 3 m and easily fits inside a mechanical harvester. Adaptable, but prefers a humid and well-drained soil, and full-sun. Tolerant to pollution and urban settings. Note that as these are seedlings, the fruit may be variable.

Brought over from France between the 17 th and 18 th centuries by Jesuit missionaries, this pear tree reaches greater size than most fruit trees. It produces an abundance of small round pears, sweet and lightly spicy. They are excellent for eating fresh or conserving. The tree flowers early, which is great for attracting pollinators. We cannot guarantee its hardiness as we have not finished testing it. It shows resistance to insects and fire blight, and impressive longevity. Harvest in mid-august/September.

Zone 3: Spur type apple tree produces very attractive white apples of relatively large size. The fruit can be eaten green (reminiscent of Granny Smith at this stage) or fully ripe when the skin has turned white (much like Yellow Transparent). Firm, crisp texture.
