Berry Orchard
- Zone 3Characteristics of the tree
The package will require just 320ft² or 30m² on your land. It is suitable for anyone living in zone 3 or warmer.
Most of these plants are quite adaptable in terms of growing conditions, making it ideal for those with limited space.
Elderberry, haskap, red currant and Garrington chokecherry can grow in almost any soil, while raspberry, blackcurrant and grape do require well-drained soil but are still reasonably adaptable (raspberries are particularly tolerant of sandy or rocky soil).
Blackcurrant, red currant and haskap also tolerate semi-shade. For full details on each type of plant, follow the links in their names above to read the full description.
Berry bushes have the great advantage of starting to produce very quickly. If you are in a hurry to have fresh fruits on your table, berries are your friend!
All the above plants will start to produce fruit in less than three years after they are planted, with most of them starting earlier.
