Berry Orchard
- Zone 3Characteristics of the tree
Berry bushes take up little space, but their fruits are some of the most flavourful around, as well as the most nutritious. We have put together here an assortment of berry bushes and shrubs that have something for all berry-lovers.
The package will require 800t² or 75m² on your land. It is suitable for anyone living in zone 3 or warmer.
Most of these plants are quite adaptable in terms of growing conditions, making it ideal for those with limited space.
Elderberry and Garrington chokecherry can grow in almost any soil, while raspberry and blackcurrant do require well-drained soil but are still reasonably adaptable (raspberries are particularly tolerant of sandy or rocky soil).
Blackcurrant also tolerate semi-shade. For full details on each type of plant, follow the links in their names above to read the full description.
Berry bushes have the great advantage of starting to produce very quickly. If you are in a hurry to have fresh fruits on your table, berries are your friend!
All the above plants will start to produce fruit in less than three years after they are planted, with most of them starting earlier.
