Zone 2 self-sterile: Norda is one of the hardiest apple trees, surviving winters without frost damage up to zone 2. Its fruit is yellow striped with red, with a fine to medium texture. It is delicious eaten fresh and dehydrated and can be kept up to four months.  The Norda apple flesh doesn't oxidise (or very very little) when in contact with air. Norda is a cross between the apple trees Rosilda and Trail.  It was developed by Dr. C.R. Ure from the Morden Research Station for the Fruit Breeding Cooperative. It was then selected in 1960 by the Beaverlodge Research Station and the University of Alberta before being released in 1976.
