Plums are a very attractive crop that needs a little pruning and can reach up to 4-5 meters high (12-15 feet). In a well-drained soil and with good air circulation they should produce within 3 to 5 years. Pollination of plums is complex. To make sure you get a harvest, you need a good pollinator like prunus nigra or prunus americana, both wild plum trees.  

Fresh plums have almost nothing in common with grocery ones, which are harvested way too long before maturity, not having built up their complex sugars. When let to ripen on the tree, plums have an amazingly sweet and good flavour. European plums tend to be better than the other ones in cooking.  

	PETITE SŒUR DE LA MONT-ROYAL Availabilities: 1' - 2' (35$) I discovered this plum tree in a close by village, the old lady gave me the permission to bring some fruit back home. The round blue skinned fruit has a very sweet and aromatic flesh. From St-Alexis-de-Montcalm, this is not the Mount-Royal plum, but it is close to it, probably one of its seedlings. We gave it that name because it is so close to Mount-Royal. Can be canned, but is a true delight fresh. We think it is the hardiest of the European plums, and it is self-fertile on top of it.  (Zone 3)
	VALTON Availabilities: 1' - 2' (35$) This vigorous plum tree is very productive. The skin of the fruit is red and the flesh is yellow and very sweet. Ready to harvest by the end of August. This selection comes from Father Valton, a pioneer in organic agriculture in Quebec.  (Zone 3b)
	BLACK PLUM   (Prunus nigra) Availabilities: 1' - 3' (30$),  3' - 4' (35$) ; 4' - 5'  (40$) : 5' - 6' (50$) ; 8' - 10' (80$) ; 10' +(100$) This wild plum tree is native to Canada and will pollinate American and Asian plum trees. The small fruit are delicious if left to ripen fully on the tree. Ideal for jams and jellies too.  They are impressive to look at when in bloom. (Not grafted, they are seedlings)
	Hybrid BLACK PLUM   Availabilties: 5' -8' (60$),  11'- 12' pieds de haut (100$) Those hybrid Black Plum Trees might be crossed with another plum tree, but not necessarely. This possible hybride is not as good as the pure black plum above, it is best for ornemental use. Their perfume is wonderful and their fruit are edible, but we don't know what they will taste like, it is a surprise!
	PLUM TREE OSIRIS    (4 year old trees, average 3 feet tall) Lot of 20 trees for 300 $  (50% discount on regular price) This lot of plum trees are born from seeds and are not grafted, therefore the fruit will vary from one tree to another. The original tree gives delicious small red plums with sugary yellow flesh. Be careful, it is only hardy to zone 5.
