Sweet Bing type cherries are not hardy enough for our climate. We have
selected a few cultivars that give half-sweet cherries,
good to eat
fresh and fantastic for cooking. The cherry trees we offer are self
-fertile,
you do not need more than one to get fruit. If you plant many, space
them
10-15 feet apart.

Availabilities:

to
3
feet tall (20$)
; 4' - 6' (35$) ; 7' - 10' (80$)
Choke cherry trees are small bushy trees usually between 3 to 6
meters high, but some specimens can be as high as 15 meters. May
flowering, the small clusters of fruit are loved by birds and
kids. Their astringency is somewhat reduced by table salt. They
make great jams. Native to North America, you can find it from
Yukon to New Mexico. The bark and roots have medicinal
properties. Tolerates some shadow but prefers a sunny spot. Does
not like saline and badly drained soils.
These are green leafed trees, but we
also have a red leafed variety available (see below). The choice is yours! Self fertile. |

PENNSYLVNIA CHERRY
(Prunus Pennsylvanica)
Availabilities:
1' - 3' (20$), 3' - 6' (30$)
The
Pennsylvania cherry tree is small, usually under 6-meters
high, that is native and very hardy. Its astringent small
cherries are good for jam, juice and syrup. This tree loves
well-drained sandy soil and sun. It tends to sucker a lot
which
creates a bush. The spring flower show is beautiful. Short-lived,
about 40 years, its wood is red. |
